The Arken EP-8 1-8×28 is a first focal plane LPVO built for fast close-range shooting and extended precision out to 500m. A true 1x at the low end with a 34mm tube and illuminated KLBOX reticle — ideal for IPSC, PRS short-range stages, and dangerous game hunting in South Africa where fast target acquisition is critical.

The EP-8 is Arken’s LPVO (low power variable optic), designed for rapid target engagement and adaptability in dynamic shooting situations. On true 1×, it delivers a wide, unobstructed view similar to a red dot, while 8× provides the magnification needed to extend your effective range when required. The included throw lever allows for quick, seamless transitions between magnification levels.

Its KL Box (Kill Box) reticle is specifically developed for fast-paced, close-to-mid-range shooting. By simply placing the target within the correct reference box, distance estimation and holdover are effectively built in — ideal for high-pressure scenarios like the BST Challenge.

Commonly paired with AR platforms and semi-automatic rifles, it’s also used by some hunters running larger calibres where speed and quick target acquisition take priority over extreme magnification.

Reticle Details: KL Box MIL (‘KL’= ‘Known Length’. Pronounced: “KILL BOX”) This incredibly intuitive, patent pending reticle was designed to increase effectiveness under high stress environments. The outside numbers extending diagonally below centerline correlate to distance in yards. ‘Frame and Fire!” By framing a silhouette target in the appropriate KL box, the user is able to rapidly identify distance by simultaneously using shoulder width and torso height to calculate point of aim. With combat effectiveness in mind, this reticle allows for easy interpolation for any distance within the intended operational limits of a 1-8 allowing the user to acquire and process information faster and put effective rounds down range.
